After pushing the Small Business Administration to expedite the process, Senator Padilla recently announced over $1 billion in grant awards to California entertainment venues as part of the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant Program (SVOG), providing essential relief to entertainment industry workers. Senator Padilla has also been a vocal supporter of the bipartisan infrastructure bill, which would create millions of union jobs nationwide.

“I am pleased to endorse Senator Alex Padilla on behalf of LiUNA’s 70,000 members and their families across California,” said Rocco Davis, LiUNA Vice President and Pacific Southwest Regional Manager. “Senator Padilla has been a steadfast labor ally throughout his career in public service and he has demonstrated his commitment to lifting up working families time and again. As we fight in Congress for stronger labor protections like the PRO Act, we are confident that Senator Padilla will continue to stand with us and be a voice for laborers throughout California and the nation. We look forward to supporting Senator Padilla’s continued service in the United States Senate.”

“On behalf of the over 54,000 members of the California IATSE Council we are proud to announce our endorsement of Senator Padilla today,” said Thom Davis, President, California IATSE Council. “The Senator has stood with us and the thousands of working families we represent since his early days in the Los Angeles City Council. So, we know well his commitment to keeping film and television production work here in California, to protecting our members’ health care and pension plans, to equity and inclusion, and to the right of workers to organize. These issues are not just words to Senator Padilla—time and time again he has demonstrated his commitment.”

“I am proud to have the support of LiUNA and the California IATSE Council,” Senator Padilla said. “Everyday I walk into the Senate with California’s working families at the top of my mind and I will continue to advocate for pro-labor policies that create good-paying jobs and make the California Dream a reality for working families.”

Sen. Padilla was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom to fill the Senate seat vacated by Vice President Kamala Harris for the remainder of her term. He is up for reelection in 2022.
