Campaign Finance and Transparency
Corporations are not people and money is not speech.
I support increasing the transparency of money in politics and campaigns. California already requires disclosure for every dollar raised and spent by state candidates and campaigns:
- I want to make it even easier for Californians to see the flow of money in politics. As Secretary of State, I partnered with Maplight to launch a new campaign finance search engine so that the public can more easily access campaign finance information.
- I successfully lobbied the legislature for funding to replace Cal-ACCESS with a new state of the art database that will be more reliable, faster, and user-friendly.
- As state Senator, I was a cosponsor of the DISCLOSE Act and I’m proud of my 100% score on the California Clean Money Scorecard.
